A total of 83 media practitioners in northern Ghana have received orientation on the MADE Programme, its objectives, interventions in the six selected market sectors and the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach.
The first phase of the media orientation programmes held in Tamale in July was attended by 16 heads of media houses and regional correspondents in the three northern regions. This was followed in November with the orientation of 67 presenters and producers of agriculture and development programmes, news editors and reporters from media houses in the three regional capitals of Wa, Bolgatanga and Tamale.
The programmes provided the media practitioners with the requisite information and knowledge on the MADE Programme for accurate and balanced reportage.
It helped to build a good working relationship with the media and to promote:
- wider dissemination of information and knowledge on market opportunities
- good agricultural and animal husbandry practices to small-holder farmers and rural entrepreneurs in northern Ghana
