In Northern Ghana, development of the agricultural sector has fallen far behind that in other regions of the country. To tackle this problem, MADE uses a market systems approach to drive pioneering changes in how small rural agribusinesses engage with smallholder farmers in Northern Ghana. This brief provides an overview of MADE’s work, outlining its agricultural interventions and services – through the ‘Advanced Model’ in particular. It also describes the ‘seven rights’ for smallholder farmers, explains how MADE is working with partners across agribusiness and the value chain, and summarises the impacts of the programme so far.
