Chilli is a highly profitable crop for smallholders in Northern Ghana but there is still great potential to improve yields and substantially increase incomes. This report analyses the chilli market in Northern Ghana, describing chilli production and the market potential of both fresh and dried chilli, as well as constraints on production and marketing, and how these might be overcome. It also examines the chilli production value chain and how research, finance, policies, institutions and other actors support chilli production. It proposes ways in which MADE could address systemic constraints inhibiting innovation and market responsiveness.
