In Northern Ghana, MADE carried out a three-week gender assessment to understand the extent to which women are both important clients and valuable employees for agribusinesses. This report presents findings and recommendations, as well as challenges and opportunities, that emerged from this assessment. The suggestions do not come from the assessment team but rather reflect strategies the agribusinesses themselves have put into place or are considering adopting. The intention is to encourage agribusiness partners to invest in and hire women in order to benefit female smallholder farmers, local communities and the agribusinesses themselves.
