Groundnut is an important cash crop in Northern Ghana. It is also significant for nutrition and food security, and is beneficial for soil fertility in multi-crop rotational systems. This report for MADE analyses the groundnut market in Northern Ghana, describing groundnut production and its market potential, as well as constraints on production and marketing, and how these might be overcome. It also examines the groundnut production value chain and how research, finance, policies, institutions and other actors support groundnut production. It suggests a range of interventions that could address systemic constraints along the groundnut value chain.
