Livestock production, processing and marketing in Northern Ghana offer rapid growth opportunities, but few farmers are commercially oriented in their production. This report analyses the market for livestock in Northern Ghana, describing how livestock are reared and cared for, and the potential for market growth, as well as constraints on production and marketing. It also examines the livestock production value chain and how research, finance, policies, institutions and other actors support livestock production. It proposes ways in which MADE could address systemic constraints along the livestock value chain.
